We have been feeling the impact of the Financial Crisis since this Chinese New Year and further confirmed by this Christmas Party...Last Year, the UBS Christmas party is held at Conrad Hotel, with SuperHeros and Little Tikes door gifts for the children... This year, there are no superheros... Lunch at the Legends, Fort Canning Club and door gifts are coloring pencils sets...But we do have fun as the MC was really good. Food is also not bad...

Ha, yes, we went to Hong Kong again! Due to various reasons, cheaper, shorter flight and Hong Kong Disneyland! Luckily, we chose this place since Arienne was crying and throwing tantrums on the trip back. It was really stressful then.... But on the whole, still very enjoyable!

This is the grander hotel, compared to Hollywood Hotel which is more modern. However, both hotels have limited facilities and restaurants.. After a night's stay, you will feel that staying in downtown hotels are more worth the money.

Arienne loves Barney, the imaginary purple dinosaur that provides her much entertainment. Though the rest of the group has sort of grown out of Barney, they are still very attentive during the 1 and half hour concert. If I am not wrong, Barney is born in 1987? It is amazing how this dinosaur captures so many little toddlers' hearts including my darling daughter....

But before the show starts.... the situation is chaotic...

Arienne will be 16th month on the 2nd April and it is really amazing to realize how fast she has grown.. She has been running and talking a lot as well.. Below is a list of words that she has picked up: shoe, cat, dog, eye, nose, ear, bear, pa pa, mummy, kai kai, gor gor, ma, yee, pee (my mother in law's dog). She has also been climbing sofa and trying to imitate Alden to jump from the sofa!

My sister's company Abbott organized this workshop for children under 7 years old - Grow Woodcraft Workshop. This is for those children who joined the Grow milk powder. The workshop is held at Jacob Ballas Children's Garden. This is the first time that I have been to the place and it is such a wonderful place for children that I will definitely come here often in future..

We saw this place on a variety show and decided to try it out... Kind of disappointing that it is a bit small and the place only serves soup and pizza.. But the food tastes quite alright and healthy though.. Alden likes the place because of the computers and the unique hand wash area!

It has been a busy 3 months for me since I joined my new workplace.. Learning the systems, adapting to a new work culture and working late...hardly having time to update my blog..last week, we even moved office - from 6th floor to 13th floor.. Yes, 13th floor at Suntec Tower 5 definitely has better view!

My girl is so different from Alden.. She is fierce and demanding, compared to Alden who is always smiling and accommodating... My mother always says she is a chilli padi.. IF she is not happy with you, she will go 'Grrrrr...' or pushes you away. But she has her adorable sides as well.

Alden's school has a bi-yearly Musical Concert cum Graduation Ceremony. This year, the event is at Singapore Polytechnic Auditorium. The title of the Musical Concert is "Back to the past .... Into the Future". The storyline was about a book who went to the past with a Groovy Scientist to learn about things in the past and also into the future to learn what will be like in the future.

Alden has a part as a groovy scientist in this muscial concert. Watch the video and guess which grovvy scientist is Alden!

After the concert, we decided to let Arienne try on the purple wig.. She looks so cute..

Macau 13/14 October 2007 - Here we come!

The reason why we chose to go Macau is that we thought we can buy lots of stuff at very cheap prices.. and we are not that kind that likes ruins, architecture.. We are terribly wrong. Macau is really a CASINO city. The whole place is full of casinos and there is only 1 shopping centre, i.e. New Yao Han! But the redeeming thing is the Venetian Macau Resort - Asia's largest single resort offering world class entertainment, state of art meeting facilities, suite accommodation, exquisite shopping and dining all under 1 roof. Service however needs lots of improvement.

Disneyland Hong Kong - 12 October 2007
This is the smallest Disneyland, with just 4 themed lands - Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Adventureland and Tomorrowland. We have heard lots of critisms so we went with low expectations. But it wasnt too bad for kids and I still enjoyed the trip though I have been to the ones in Paris and Tokyo.

Hong Kong Trip Part 2 (12 October 2007)

We went to the shopping centre at Harbour City. They have a 360 supermarket which is pretty upclass, very similar to Market Place at Raffles City. Things are expensive there. The wanton noodles costs S$7 plus there!

After our brunch there, we took the MTR to Sunny Bay before changing to the Disney Line to Disneyland. The MTR ride is very enjoyable. We are so excited to see Mickey Mouse shaped windows and handles on the train.

Children Health Fair at Vivo City

We went to Vivo City yesterday and there was a mini children health fair where they were promoting Children Magazines, Moo Moo Cow Magnolia milk, Health supplements, etc. I spent S$24 to subscribe a children magazine and in return, they gave me 2 goodie bags which consist of a bag, 1 Sunshine bread, 2 boxes of crayons, 1 box of coloring pencils, 2 stationary sets, 2 file holders, 1 plastic file holder, 2 Ribena cups, 1 plastic water bottle, a S$10 voucher to Globletrotters, free 1 hour play at ExploreKids at Downtown East...It was a good deal! Yes, I forget they also gave me 2 sets of Digimon sets, something like the Tamagochi toys. Then, the kids saw the Moo Moo cow Mascort.

We seldom brought my little gal out as she needs her nap and can be quite fussy when outside. Yesterday, decided to bring her out to Sentosa and we can see that she really enjoyed the trip. She was facinated by the sights of the beach, the rail, etc. I even let her tasted strawberry ice-cream!!

In comparison, Alden has always go on trips and outings with us as he is definitely much more manageable. Now, I have to really think carefully whether I should try for a No. 3 since my little gal will be much more manageable this year...

Clarke Quay has been refurnished and given a new lease of life. The place is now hip, with plenty of new theme restaurants and pubs. It reminded me of Boat Quay during the good times in the mid 90s. There is also a night flea market selling upmarket t-shirts, beads, accessories, etc. The place is definitely NOT suitable for kids at night. But we saw 1 interesting sight..

Today, when I looked at his photos, he has really grown. Now at almost 90cm, he weights at 15kg. Does that mean I must pay bus fare for him when we take a bus next time??!!! To me, this is ridiculous that they use height as a gauge to decide whether we should pay bus fare for our children. Nowadays, kids are bigger than us when we were at their age. He is only 34th months!!

Yesterday night was horrendous... with 2 kids crying at 1.30am. KL and I will grab any chance for a good night sleep. It started when Alden started crying about his running nose. I guess he must have difficulty breathing through his stuffed nose. Then he started crying and Arienne awoke by her brother's crying, started to cry as well...AHHHHHHH.... when will I have a good nite sleep?

We planned this trip for quite some time. I was actually looking forward to it. But we didnt expect that we will be so tired after 2 hours walk!

Arienne has learned to crawl at an age earlier than expected. The average age is 8th month but my little girl has started to crawl backwards 2 weeks ago and crawling forward this week. The doctor said she may be able to walk very early before 12th month.

Finally, I decided to create a blog for my 2 kids after some coaxing from my 2 pals. Took a real long time to decide which blogskin that I should use.. So, here it is.. Kids grow very fast, especially newborn. See how Arienne has grown.
